ChronoLogic’s Distributed Virtual Instruments (DVI’s) are part of the USB-inSync™ product family which allows you to combine multiple synchronized hardware modules with software to create a powerful virtual instrument.
The DVI product range provides users with the ultimate in test & measurement flexibility. Each DVI is a simple stand alone unit that provides a specific functionality in a small, rugged form factor with all of the plug-and-play benefits of USB. In addition, DVI’s can be combined with ChronoLogic’s “Maestro – Master Timing Hub” and used as building blocks to create large, synchronous test setups consisting over more than 100 devices with multiple functionalities.
By combining DVI hardware with ChronoLogic’s free Control Centre software or LabVIEW drivers (provided), multiple modules can be controlled as one synchronous, multi-function device. This is possible due to the fact that each DVI is enabled with USB-inSync™ technology, which allows multiple USB modules to be synchronized to within ±1ns, allowing them to offer precision timing and synchronization capability in a distributed platform. Such precision timing capability has traditionally been limited to expensive, fixed rack-based instrumentation platforms.
The DVI product range provides users with a scalable, simple to use and low-cost solution to their test & measurement requirements that can grow with their needs. From simple 1-2 channel setups to complex setups with over 100 multi-function channels, the DVI range provides flexibility without compromising on functional specifications or synchronous capability.
The DVI product range is currently under development, with the first module; the CL4000, expected to be released in early 2010. The CL4000 is a 14-bit USB Oscilloscope/Digitizer, with high end-functionality and full USB-inSync™ capability.
